REAP Battery has opened its manufacturing and research & development (R&D) center in Tuzla, Istanbul. It is a major step forward in the company's ability to design, build and deliver energy storage systems on a large scale. Phase 1 of the facility is now running, with the capacity to produce 5 GWh of energy storage systems (BESS) per year.
Facility and Production Capabilities
In Phase 1, the Tuzla facility assembles battery modules and packs and builds them into finished energy storage products — both container-based units and rack-mounted units. Every system is tested before it leaves the factory.
At Phase 1 capacity, the plant can make 5 GWh of energy storage products per year. These range from systems for factories and businesses (commercial & industrial, or C&I) up to large utility-scale installations made of many containers. The on-site R&D team designs systems built on LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells — a safe and long-life battery chemistry — and works on the battery management system (BMS), which keeps each battery running safely, as well as temperature control.
Strategic Significance
The Tuzla facility is the production base for REAP Battery's growing list of international projects. As a domestic producer under YEO Teknoloji (BIST: YEOTK), REAP Battery offers clear, end-to-end visibility of its supply chain from its base in Türkiye.
For the U.S. market, REAP Battery offers cost-effective, tariff-advantaged and FEOC risk-free (Non-FEOC) energy storage solutions made in Türkiye.
The next steps are Phase 2, a 10 GWh/yr lithium battery cell production facility, followed by a Phase 3 facility for giving battery cells a second life and recycling them. REAP Battery welcomes utility developers, independent power producers and C&I energy managers to talk through their project needs with the engineering and commercial teams.
